THE CRAFT
Aari Embroidery
Aari embroidery is a centuries-old Indian hand embroidery technique that uses a hooked needle, called an aari, to create intricate, detailed designs on fabric. Aari embroidery originated in the 12th century when the leather workers in the western Indian state of Gujarat first developed Aari embroidery to decorate footwear.
