history

Each stitch and thread is a testament to tradition, and it can take days or weeks to create a single piece. Traditionally, Chikankari began as a type of white-on-white embroidery where the craft work was done on white muslin cloth using white thread.

Now the embroidery experiments with tonality on different colors and shades of cotton, muslin, & other fabrics. It is also embellished and adorned with sequin, beads and mirror work to enrich its appearance.
